For the past three weeks we've been visiting all corners of Auckland interviewing candidates who are standing for Council this election.
It’s been an interesting process and we’re nearly ready to release the scores of these candidates. This will make it easier for voters to know who is going to be the best representative for better public transport, building more homes and protecting our environment.
The next step, once we’ve finalised the candidates scores, is to get this information out to as many voters as possible. We know that one of the major reasons people don’t vote in local elections is because they don’t think they have enough information - we’re hoping to solve this problem.
But all this hard work of interviewing and marking each candidate will mean little if we can’t get these scores out to the public. I’ve been doing the numbers on the generous donations that we’ve received so far and we’re at about $15,000 to get our election scorecards out to the public.
We’re currently booking advertising spots, including newspaper ads, billstickers and digital advertising.
Every dollar helps to get our message out there - and means we can reach that one more voter and help get them to turn out to vote. So can you chip in now to help us reach as many voters as possible - here’s what each dollar amount will mean in real terms.
All of your donations will go directly to getting the word out. This could be the biggest campaign we have ever run. All of the interview process and design work has been done for free by our incredible team of volunteers, now we need your help to help us make a difference.

Thank you for considering making a donation to Generation Zero's Auckland election campaign fund. We're relying entirely on small donations from people who believe in making a greater Auckland for everyone. We receive no government funding. Last election we ran our highly effective campaign that got the Congestion Free Network on the political agenda with an award winning marketing campaign and held Auckland's elected representatives to account. This election we are going to scorecard candidates across Auckland, focusing on key Councillors that will ensure a majority on the Auckland Council Governing Body are supportive of our issues we’ve campaigned on previously, while helping to make sure young people get out to vote. To pull off this bold strategy and have the most impact possible we are going to need to need resources to do it. So can you become a recurring donor for the five months of the election campaign or chip in so we can make this happen? Contribute now so we can make this happen below by making a one-off donation or a recurring donation.Donate

Thank you for considering donating to our work. As a small team of volunteers we always stretch our resources to the maximum. To ensure Auckland becomes a more liveable low carbon city we need your financial support to maximise the quality and impact of our next campaigns. Our campaigns work but we need your support.
Over the past 2 years, our Auckland community has grown to over 15,000 people. This includes everyone who has taken an action on one of our many campaigns to improve Auckland -- from submitting on the Unitary Plan, making the Congestion Free Network a key part of the debate during the 2013 local election, supporting Skypath and supporting our Essential Transport Budget.
But we’re not finished -- we now need to hold the Council accountable to deliver the projects they’ve promised, to keep the pressure on the Government to come to fully commit to funding the City Rail Link, and ensure we are positioned to ensure a liveable low-carbon city is firmly on the agenda of next years local election. Your contribution will go towards winning these next big battles.
Specifically, your donation will go towards funding the core resources we need to run our campaigns, such as our website, our technology, our small office space and hard resources such as pamphlets and posters.
We're growing stronger and winning the debates that matter -- but we need to continue the work we’re doing, so please consider chipping in.
