60% of Aucklanders don't vote, let's change this!

It's that time again! The local elections are on the horizon and so are Generation Zero’s Election Scorecards.

We ask every council candidate the same 14 questions on Transport, Urban Form and the Environment. We give them points based on how well they answered and how well they matched Generation Zero's vision for a liveable low-carbon Auckland.

The aim is to bring the issues you care about and see how they sit with each candidate. We want to make voting easier and more accessible for you and young people. See our last election scorecards here.

To achieve this we need support from you!

Contribute by using your dollar! All donations will go to the marketing and coordination of the campaign. This is equally important so that we can spread the hard work and valuable information gathered to make voting easier for you and the Auckland community.

Or you can set up a recurring payment via internet banking if you prefer through our Kiwibank account - 38-9014-0113680-03. If you choose this method, please follow these steps:

    1. Make your donation via internet banking using your full name as the reference and
    2. Send a quick email to to let us know your kind donation is on it’s way. Thank you!

Need more information? If you would like to know more about Generation Zero’s funding or activities, feel free to send us an email at Once you have made a donation our policy is that no refunds will be given if you change your mind later. Donations to Generation Zero are not tax deductible.

Talking Auckland, we definitely need to know where candidates for the coming local government elections stand on responding to the climate emergency with genuine urgency. I also think that the Council should explore more genuinely participatory ways of including the voice of the public and working together. Current so-called consultation keeps the public at arms length and is very secretive about how the results are used, if at all. We need to establish trust and work to a common aim or the potentially uncomfortable steps needed will never be taken until is os too late.

Sign up to help transform Aotearoa to a zero-carbon society!

As a volunteer driven organisation we rely on the commitment of our 100's of volunteers across the country to campaign for the solutions to climate change. We focus on two main things:

    • Raising public awareness of the solutions to climate change in NZ, how these can be achieved, and how they be a part of making them happen.
    • Empowering and upskilling young New Zealanders to take action on climate change.

We campaign for policy solutions by working with the NZ public to influence decision-makers. We focus on transport systems, energy, and urban planning. Not only do these areas provide opportunities for significant emission savings - but they are also issues that affect the everyday lives of New Zealanders. We try to campaign on issues that are relevant to New Zealanders and allow climate change solutions to be accessible real-life things as opposed to huge invisible challenges.
