Campaigns

Not only do we work at a regional level, but we expand to the national level as well.

Right now we are campaigning for local body elections 2022! See more about the campaign in the box below and on our campaign website localelections.nz

Local Body Elections

Our local governments are a crucial player in tackling the climate crisis and building a just future. For the 2022 Local Body Elections our campaign vision  is: To have as many climate justice oriented councillors that reflect their community elected, to have accessible voting so that all communities can easily vote, and have accessible information on candidates.

We are lobbying our councils for more accessible elections, collaborating and connecting with others to empower people to vote, and creating scorecards to measure how good various candidates are for our councils. You can check out our campaign over on our campaign website localelections.nz

Submit for Free Fares

The Pōneke Collective for Public Transport Equity is calling for Wellingtonians to submit to the Greater Wellington Regional Council Future Fares Review. Take action in this movement towards justice in our region. Tell our council why this matters to you, and together we'll move towards our collective and equitable future.

Update: the Metlink consultation process has now closed for submissions.

Vote Climate Justice

We’re basing our election campaign on the principle that a vote with climate justice in mind is a vote for a better future for Aotearoa New Zealand, and those who call it home. We look forward to this campaign amplifying the voices that we need to hear on climate change, while engaging and educating our supporters on Climate Justice in the context of the General Election.

#unitebehindclimate

This campaign is a collaboration between youth-led climate action groups in Aotearoa. Join School Strike 4 Climate and Generation Zero to make your voice heard to ensure the Government’s response to COVID19 is socially responsible and climate friendly by centering climate and intergenerational justice.

SUBMIT ON THE FUTURE OF RAIL AND LAND TRANSPORT

The Government is consulting on two major pieces of transport policy. The Government Policy Statement on Transport determines where over $9 billion dollars of transport funding will be allocated over the next three years. The NZ Rail Plan lays out investment for rail until 2030 and into the  future.

We want you to submit here in favour of public transport, road safety, walking and cycling!
