Our friends at Make it 16 have been working hard to lower the voting age to 16 across Aotearoa. You may have heard about their court case in the High Court. In Nov 2022, Supreme Court ruled that preventing 16 and 17 year olds from voting was a breach of the Bill of Rights. The next step is taking the campaign to government!
At Generation Zero we believe that rangatahi aren't just the future, we are the now. We are the ones whose futures are impacted by the climate crisis. 16 and 17 year olds deserve a say in the decisions that impact their future.
